Rural Fire Service Open Day

Rural Fire Service Open Day – 22nd September

I think we can all agree that the Rural Fire Service men and women are the most amazing group of brave people one could meet.  If you live in the Helensburgh District; fire is no stranger to you, and YOU KNOW how important the Rural Fire Service is.  Below is a press release; please go and support the fine folk at our local Rural Fire Service.
Rural Fire Service. Prepare.Act.Survive
RURAL Fire Service volunteers will be manning their stations on Saturday, September 22, as they host Open Days for the public across the Illawarra.
Helensburgh and Otford stations will open their doors from 10am-2pm.
The Open Day will be an interactive event, with games for children, pretend fires to douse, fire trucks to explore and displays and demonstrations from firefighters throughout the day.
Information will also be provided on fire safety plans, protecting the family home, and what the PREPARE.ACT.SURVIVE. message means to our local community.
Residents can find out about the diversity of roles both on and off the fire ground and how to volunteer for the service if they are interested. It is also a chance to meet the local RFS brigade members who are valuable members of the community.
The Open Day coincides with the start of Bush Fire Awareness Week and the beginning of the bush fire danger period and will help people prepare for a potentially difficult fire season.
